EYe movement desensitization and reprocessing
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is a structured, evidence based, integrative psychotherapy approach designed to help people heal from trauma, anxiety, and other distressing experiences by reprocessing memories in a way that reduces their emotional charge.

-
EMDR is conducted, in part, by activating both the right and left brain hemispheres with bilateral stimulation (BLS) while focusing on an upsetting memory, feeling, or body sensation. BLS helps reduce the vividness of the traumatic event so that an adaptive, more positive belief can be reprocessed. I offer EMDR sessions on weekly/ biweekly 60 minute sessions, EMDR Intensives for those that want an accelerated processing, and EMDR for children.
-
EMDR is effective for PTSD, anxiety, depression, phobias, grief, low self-esteem, performance anxiety, and more. It’s also used with children and teens for issues like trauma, behavior challenges, and anxiety.
-
This varies. Your therapist will work at a pace that feels safe and appropriate for you.
-
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR focuses less on verbal processing and more on helping the brain reprocess stuck memories. It often results in faster relief from symptoms without needing to retell the full story in detail.
